I've gone through a lot of coffee makers, and spent a fair chunk of change on each because I care about a good cup of coffee. This is, without question, the BEST coffee maker I've found. Because Technivorm heats water to the requisite temperature (and does it amazingly quickly) it makes a perfect brew every time. The one caveat: Don't grind the beans too fine-- especially if making more than 6 cups of coffee. The beans turn into mud, and water can't get through the filter.
Other than than, this is the best coffee maker out there. If you love coffee, this is the maker to use.
And oh yes, I've had it for more than three years now -- with nary a problem.

I was willing to spend the outrageous amount on this machine as we drink coffee every day and care about quality. We didn't find the difference in the coffee to be worth the extra 200 bucks. In addition there are some problems with the design that we didn't like.
The lid of the carafe opens when you pick it up. It dribbles when you pour always making a mess. The carafe is really pretty small and it's not enough coffee for two adults to have a couple of cups during the day. The parts that transport the water to the brewer are clumsy. I have a hard time believing that the rubber top of stem will last for years.
The quality of the machine is OK, certainly not enough to justify the price. It is cool to watch though as the water bubbles up the stem.
I think the coffee made in our old Cuisinart was just as good. The quality of the beans, the right grind and good water are more important than the 3 or 4 degrees difference in the brew.

I was hunting for a good coffee maker to complement my Bodum french press, since I do not enjoy pressing a pot (And cleaning it up) in the morning. I can say the Technivorm was definitely the right answer! The coffee is as good if not better than the press pot (No grounds in the bottom of the cup) and much easier to clean (No grounds in the bottom of the pot!)
This coffee maker does exactly one thing: Make a great cup of coffee. It brews pretty quickly and is even fun to watch percolate. I also looked at the thermal carafe version of this maker, however it appears there are gripes with the lip of the thermal carafe (A too wide pour) and the topper design, so I decided basic glass was my friend and so far it absolutely has been! The one spill I had was entirely my fault, otherwise it fills the cup with no dripping.
I would definitely recommend this coffeemaker to friends who have the money for it and the desire to buy one coffeemaker for life. It does NOT disappoint!
